System Overview

The system comprises three components: (1) Rynon long-range Bluetooth power meters (model RN-BT-LR series) for installation at each metering point; (2) Rynon IoT base station (model RN-IBS-200) acting as the mesh gateway and uplink; (3) Rynon cloud or on-premise energy management platform.

Radio Link Budget

The long-range Bluetooth module uses BLE 5.x coded PHY (S=8) with +20 dBm output power, achieving receiver sensitivity down to -105 dBm. The result: typical line-of-sight range of 200 m, and reliable non-line-of-sight range of 60–100 m through one concrete floor.

Meter Device Lineup

Three meter models cover the typical building distribution use case: RN-BT-LR/3P (three-phase, 80 A direct connect), RN-BT-LR/CT (three-phase with CT input for higher currents), and RN-BT-LR/SP (single-phase for lighting and small loads). All models share the same Bluetooth Mesh profile and provisioning flow.

IoT Base Station Specifications

The RN-IBS-200 base station supports up to 64 simultaneously bonded meters, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 + 5 GHz), Ethernet, 4G fallback, and local buffering for 30 days of 1-minute metering data. It runs on 12 V DC or PoE.

Use Case: Industrial Plant

A 15,000 m² manufacturing plant with 120 metering points distributed across 8 electrical rooms. Two RN-IBS-200 base stations provide full coverage. End-to-end data latency from meter to cloud averages 2.1 seconds.

Integration with Existing Systems

The base station exposes data via Modbus TCP (port 502), MQTT (port 8883 with TLS), and REST API. Existing SCADA or BMS systems can pull metering data without modification. A reference integration with a third-party energy platform is available.

Provisioning and O&M

The Rynon commissioning app scans the meter QR code, registers the meter with the base station, and assigns a logical address. Subsequent firmware updates are pushed over the air from the base station. The base station itself can be remotely managed via the Rynon cloud platform.

Compliance and Certification

The system carries CCC, CE, FCC, and SRRC certifications. The meters meet IEC 62053-22 class 0.5S for active energy accuracy, and the base station meets IEC 61850-3 for substation environments.
